In the age of secular ideas are dominant where people do believe in scientific principle. There is a minor belief which remain and condition on someone lives nowadays, spirituality. How this knowledge of rituals has passed down in societies and embraced the strong connection between them in this century?

Back in Thailand, the question lingers in Buddhist culture. Literally, the main doctrine stands opposite a relic of a superstitious age. Most of people still aware of their being wealthy and happy in the afterlife. The sacred objects are one of the thing that can bringing and fulfill their achievement. Then, they start to worship the nature such as trees and animals which they fully believe that there are spiritual in these natures and becoming part of their life.

 

Parichat Tanapiwattanakul is a Thai artist whose upbringing as a Buddhist has a strong influence on her practice. She takes an interest in the notions of reincarnation and afterlife inbuilt in spiritual rituals. Through videos, images, sculpture and installations, she contemplates how these beliefs evolve and metamorphose in the contemporary secular world that is highly technologised.
