ERICA SMITH RAMOS

Her most recent work consists of deconstructing and reconstructing the bridges between her photography and painting. That is: breaking, mixing and re-composing between these two disciplines. This interdisciplinary, mixed-media approach has become her most exhilarating exercise, where she gathers a verity documentation through her lens and then paints to invent or supplement her own envisioned narration. It has become a way to fill the gap she perceives between a moment of reality and the photographic image of it, and the subtlety of the experience that is hard to capture through photography alone. It is a hybrid of what was and what could have been. It is an interplay between a hard reality and an ephemeral fantasy- between what has been captured in a shot and what has been left outside the frame.
