CHUANZI HUANG

Her work revolves around the way the subjects exists in different social-cultural contexts. The greater changes in contemporary society and the increasing speed of cultural integration have forced human beings to adjust psychologically in a shorter time. Her practice alternates between Humanities and autobiographical methods. She believes that the impact of changes of time and geography on people from different cultural backgrounds is similar.

The underlying relationships between people's identities and the places they have been to changes as their dwellings change. She tried to evoke people's memories in an allegorical and narrative way, showing a retrospection of time. This process involves the practice of semiotics and her study of Psychogeography. With this in mind, she also explored the constructions of our subjective realities and its development of meaning-making.

In her recent work, the first-hand materials and texts she collected in her research, which are traces of emotional and historical changes, often served as an important component. She composes fragmented elements such as human figures and landscapes with painting, photography, videos and installations to reflect a strong regional characteristic of the work.
