ANNA MARIA CARTA

IDEAS. There is a special feeling when a new idea comes up to her mind (it was not there before): its birth. Life: the process and the many ways it could be represented. This process of giving existence and reality to these ideas invites me to explore materials, mediums and techniques and often an initial 2D dimension is transformed in a 3D one with depths and reliefs. More than figurative my art is symbolic, sometimes with multiple meanings.

In painting, oil is her favourite medium, while the materials her uses in sculpture are quinnlite blocks, wood and metal. Sometimes the base of the sculpture is an integral part of the sculpture itself, not just the support of the structure. The use of maps in art is one of the projects she is developing at present. Although the initial inspiration for using maps may come from playing with the shape of the country, there is generally a link to the characteristics of the place, its history, economy, politics, social issues, and religious beliefs interwoven also with the wings of imagination.

Ideal and reality, full potential and underdeveloped potential, contradictions can make people and nations reflect the stage we are in and the course we are pursuing, up or down, moving forward or backwards? The joining of many nations revealed new pictures and perspectives compared to one nation considered alone. Much more can be achieved together (in a positive or negative way) as long as the barriers of communication and cooperation are removed.
